In keeping with the QuACK goal of sharing exemplary work from the KnowItNow24x7 librarians, the following is an email transaction answered by the leave-a-message answering librarians.
This is a great example of taking a prank-sounding question and treating it seriously. Stacy Anderson of Martins Ferry Public Library also didn't just provide an answer like "492" or something like that. She provided the information but let the student take ownership of the answer. She also both attached a PDF of the article as well as providing a link and telling the patron how to access it themselves through EBSCOHost. Very nice work, Stacy!

How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop? This is not a joke. I am doing this for a class.

Hello,
This email is in response to your recent question to KnowItNow24x7, Ohio's statewide online reference service.
Good question! I attached an article from the magazine Technology Teacher; Nov2007, Vol. 67 Issue 3, p23-26, 4p available from the Ebscohost databases on your public library's webpage. This article should help answer your question.
You might also be able to access the database directly by clicking on this url: http://web.ebscohost.com/src/detail?vid=5&hid=111&sid=3d1636d6-8911-4ac8-a7f9-8105d9cb08c4%40sessionmgr104&bdata=JnNpdGU9c3JjLWxpdmU%3d#db=voh&AN=27377244#db=voh&AN=27377244
