In taking another look at the transcripts done by Michael and Ozzie and other successfully handled pranks, I see a common theme. As Michael implied, treating potential pranks as legitimate questions let's one not play into the hands of pranksters. The prankster wants to get a shocked reaction from the librarian. The prankster wants to show how "edgy" they are. The prankster wants to have fun. My contention is that librarians can turn that around and have some fun with the pranksters.
Training
Another Prank Deftly Handled
In the tradition of Ozzie's wonderful example of dealing with a prankster, I wanted to share the following transcript by Michael Johnson of Shawnee State University. He recently im'd me to thank me for the training that he attended in February and to let me know he tried treating a prank like a real question and had the patron get bored and leave.
WARNING: There are several profanities in the session transcript!
Here is the transcript in question:

To Infinity & Beyond! Taking Google Beyond the Basics
As promised, I wanted to provide some links and information about my presentation at the chapter conferences of the Ohio Library Council. I had the pleasure of talking with well over 100 people in-person but wanted to be sure to let as many people as possible benefit from the presentation.
INFOhio: Great Training Resources!
I've just added INFOhio's archived webinars (available at www.infohio.org/educator/webinars2011-2012.html) to our list of Video Tutorials under " Tutorials from Other Organizations." These are great assets for both general knowledge as well as for serving K-12 students.

OLC Northwest Chapter Conference Round-up
On Friday, April 13, I participated in the OLC Northwest Chapter Conference in Toledo. My presentation was during the second slot at the conference. Forty-one people attended and we had some very interesting questions and comments. According to Bill Hardison of NORWELD, Google's Web Fonts will not display in some versions of Firefox. Be aware if you use those! Susan Pieper, Director of Paulding County Carnegie Library, offered one alternative for free fonts: dafont.
Questions from Training
Yesterday's training at Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) was great. Lots of interestnig and insightful questions, lively discussion, and a few laughs. Thanks again to CCPL for hosting and Fatima Perkins and Linda Kaminski for coordinating the training events. I did want to address several questions asked yesterday as a blog posting since others may have the same questions.
