If I understand correctly, the Ohio Web Library is basically a federated search of all the OPLIN databases.  I was curious if it might be helpful to include a link and perhaps a note on the Provider Site Database Access Information page (http://provider.knowitnow.org/content/usernames-and-passwords-accessing-proprietary-databases) about this service.  I know I've found myself recommending a few different different OPLIN databases to patrons when it would've been easier to just offer the Ohio Web Library.  I tend to use the page while I chat, so it would be a nice place (for me anyway) to have the link.

While the Ohio Web Library is the go to website for patrons wanting to access database articles on their own, don't forget as a KIN librarian we have our own portal to the statewide databases.

http://kin.oplin.org was created for KIN librarians.  This site is a proxy server, which makes it possible for KIN librarians to send the intended database article to the patrons.  A proxy server makes sure that the database article the KIN librarian is viewing, is the same page the patron will see.  Without a proxy server most databases won't send the patron the exact article we are viewing, it sends them the initial search page for that database.

We shouldn't share the kin.oplin.org page with patrons.  Patrons can access the statewide databases by going to the Ohio Web Library.  For more info

Ohio Web Library Canned Message

You can also encourage patrons to use the Ohio Web Library by using the KnowItNow24x7 canned response "OPLIN Database - Enter Zipcode" which reads:

I'm going to send something from a database exclusively for Ohio residents. If you see a box asking for your ZIP code, go ahead and enter it. Then you'll see what I sent. Let me know if it helps answer your question. If you want to search these databases after our session, you are welcome to check out http://ohioweblibrary.org/ and click on "Resources."

Granted this is a little wordy, but it provides the ZIP code information as well as an encouragement to use Ohio Web Library outside of the patron's KIN24x7 session.
