Oregon and Ohio's statewide virtual reference services (L-net and KnowItNow24x7, respectively) have been official partners for almost a year now. We have shared costs for the development of software, resources for professional development, and expertise in answering questions from each other's residents. Various designations can potentially be used to refer to our association...
- the Oregon/Ohio partnership
- the KIN24x7/L-net collaboration
- the Ohio/Oregon cooperative
...but none of these fall trippingly off the tongue. Now, that some other virtual reference services have begun to express interest in the collaborative effort between Oregon and Ohio, it becomes apparent that we need something simpler (and more official) to call ourselves. That's where you come in!
Don Boozer and Caleb Tucker-Raymond would like to solicit ideas from Ohio and Oregon virtual reference librarians for what we should call our partnership. It should be emphasized that both L-net and KIN24x7 continue to administer their own services as independent, vibrant virtual reference "brands", but our cooperative efforts and joint projects need a label as well. Librarians are welcome to post a Comment to this message or to email ideas to support@knowitnow.org or calebt@multcolib.org. Thanks, and we'll look forward to sharing your suggestions.

Maybe you could do something with the letters L I N K?
L for L-Net and K I N but in a different order?
